On 28 October 2014, the Italian Presidency of the Council of the EU, in cooperation with the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and the General Secretariat of the Council will host the high-level conference “Tackling sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination: next steps in EU and Member State policy making”.

The event will take place in the Council of the EU premises (Justus Lipsius) in Brussels.

TGEU has been invited to speak at the event. Civil Society is invited to actively participate in the conference and use the opportunity to engage with policy makers. Trans NGOs from countries that have officially agreed to speak at the event can thus directly engage with their policy makers. But also, for other trans groups and activists the event should be of high interest. The European Council is the representation of EU member states and has previously been rather conservative in regard lgbt-issues.
