TGEU is also working for the trans population outside Europe.

Following on from our last council in Berlin 2008 Transgender Europe is seeking an international exchange with trans organisations and institutions outside Europe as well as supporting the formation of a global trans network and movement. 

There are different ways to do so.

One is through the support of the Trans Secretariat of ILGA World, which is currently represented by Instituto Runa from Peru (Latin America), and its alternate, which is represented by LEGABIBO from Botswana (Africa) in creating a world wide trans directory and network.

Another way is to build new bridges by establishing strong ties between local trans groups, regional networks and/or trans activists in different parts of the world. To do so it is very important not only to know, but to understand each other, i.e. the different cultural and societal situations, struggles and successes.

Furthermore, in its research projects TGEU is not only focusing on European trans issues, but seeks to focus on global aspects of the international trans movement, too.
