7 reasons to join us at the 7th European Transgender Council
For more information about the Council go to: https://tgeu.org/7th-european-transgender-council/
It’s a 3-day gathering with the trans community at a lovely venue in Antwerp
Let’s shape our future together!
The Open Space format allows you to decide what topics will be discussed.
If this sounds overwhelming to you, do not worry. We will have many facilitators and volunteers who will coordinate the sessions.
All you need to do, is bring some ideas and opinions, and be ready to contribute in any way you can.
It’s free with a scholarship!
We have set some money aside for full and partial scholarships which can cover some or all of your registration fees, travel and accommodation.
We particularly encourage trans; black people and people of colour, D/deaf and disabled people, people with a migration background, sex workers; and trans women and gender-non-conforming people to apply for scholarships.
We are so excited to announce that Alok-Vaid Menon, a gender non-conforming performance artist & Travis Alabanza a performer and writer will be our guest performers at the Council. Click on their names to learn more about their work, writing, and poetry!
We will also be screening 3 movies;
MAJOR! explores the life and campaigns of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a formerly incarcerated Black transgender elder and activist who has been fighting for the rights of trans women of color for over 40 years.
Yes We Fuck! explores not only what sexuality can do for the people with disabilities, but what functional diversity may contribute to human sexuality. Breaking the norm by portraying disabled people as sexual and sexed beings and as desiring and desirable bodies.
Transsexworks – Trans Sexworkers on Froben St. A short documentary about the work of Transsexworks, an organisation in Berlin, Germany that works with trans sex workers.
We will have a day in the program dedicated to wellbeing and self-care!
We know how tiring and draining conferences can be. To balance this out we will have a day dedicated to wellbeing and self-care. This way we hope that you can leave the Council feeling energised, loved, and inspired.
TGEU members also get to elect the new Steering Committee, give input on decisions and elect the 2020 Council host at the General Assembly on Saturday.
Don’t want to only be a participant? There are many other ways to be involved.
