The European Transgender Council is the first and largest gathering of political trans activists in Europe. With around 250 participants, the Council is both, a forum setting the agenda for trans politics, and a celebration of the trans community.
The 7th European Transgender Council will be in Antwerp, Belgium from June 28 to July 1st, 2018. Co-organised with our members, Cavaria, TransInfoPunt and Genres Pluriels, we are happy to host this conference at deSingel, an international art campus that is wheelchair accessible.

TGEU members will get their voting card for the General Assembly, to be able to elect the new Steering Committee, give input on decisions and elect the 2020 Council host.
This year, we are bringing the community together around a program based on Open Space Technology (read more).
This approach encourages leadership among participants by beginning the conference without any formal agenda but creating one collectively. Guided and supported by a team of facilitators, participants will address topics that matters to them by deciding on a topic but also on a format.
Example of topics in open space format could look like this:
- Strategise : Building a regional network between Eastern European countries
- Debate: Advocating for a 3rd gender marker or no gender?
- Workshop: Micro-agressions and kickass comeback strategies
- Discussion: Challenging white supremacy within the trans movement (Trans Black and People Of Color only)
- Discussion: How to bring intersectional perspectives in our strategies?
- Discussion: Situation in Turkey, we need to talk (workshop in Turkish)
In addition to the Open Space Technology, the program will mix cultural, social and political aspects of the trans movement with special performers, movie screenings and other activities with a full day dedicated to wellbeing and self-care.
