According to Transgender Equality Network Ireland – TENI the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, T.D. announced today that the envisioned application process under the planned Gender Recognition Bill will, for people aged 18 years or more, be based on the person’s self-declaration by way of a statutory declaration.
Ireland is the only country in the European Union without legal provisions for gender recognition.
TGEU asked Social Minister Burton to ACT NOW in a letter in 2013.
