Call for applications – TGEU Training on Building Sustainable Trans Organisations in Europe, 21-23 November 2015
TGEU would like to invite you to participate in a training on Building Sustainable Trans Organisations in Europe, which will take place from 21-23 November 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal. This training is organised within TGEU’s strategic objectives for capacity building.
Content and aims of the training
In this training, we will address two key components of organisational sustainability: fundraising and organisational development. In order for trans organisations to be sustainable and to have the necessary resources to work towards their goals effectively, they need to not only be able to attract new and substantial funds, but they also need to be able to absorb these funds, to implement new projects successfully, and to manage the resulting growth in a stable manner.
Participants in this training will therefore gain skills, knowledge and tools in:
Fundraising:
• How to identify and build connections with potential funders
• How to develop and write successful fundraising applications for substantial projects
• How to be strategic about pursuing new funding opportunities that fit their organisation’s goals, strategy and organisational capacity
Organisational Development:
• How to create stable and sustainable organisational growth, in particular when receiving new funding and starting new projects
• How to share leadership within the organisation
• How to manage staff and volunteers in a manner that leads to wellbeing and sustainability and that prevents burn out
Profile of participants
This training is particularly relevant for activists who have a managing or governing role in their organisation, such as board members, founders or directors, and those who manage other staff and/or volunteers, as well as those who are responsible for fundraising within their organisation.
Participants have to:
• Be engaged with a trans or LGBT organisation in the wider European region
• Have the support of their organisation for their application
• Have a managing or governing role in their organisation, as described above, and/or be responsible for fundraising in their organisation
