TGEU is looking for a contractor to conduct a strategic review of the “Transrespect versus Transphobia Worldwide” project (TvT) and to recommend improvements to TvT’s program design, methodology, and research processes (to be completed by mid-November). TvT is an ongoing, comparative qualitative-quantitative research project initiated by TGEU in 2009. With the assistance of partner organisations and experts and the guidance of Global Advisors from around the world, TvT provides ground-breaking research on the human rights situation of trans and gender-diverse people worldwide. TvT currently includes:

  • Trans Murder Monitoring (TMM) is a systematic collection, monitoring, and analysis of reported killings of trans and gender-diverse people worldwide.
  • Legal and Social Mapping (now TvT mapping) provides a quick overview of the human rights situation of trans and gender-diverse people around the world. The questionnaire is divided into five sections: law and legal measures, healthcare, social and economic context, asylum and migration, and indigenous context.

The Consultant’s scope of work shall include:

  • In consultation with the TvT Global Advisors and TGEU staff, assess and recommend improvements to TvT’s project priorities, methodology, and research processes by the end of September 2020;
  • Identify potential university research partner(s) to support data collection and analysis for the Trans Murder Monitoring project;
  • Advise on the redevelopment of research materials for the TvT project, including indicators, data presentation, and analysis;
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts for the TvT project.

The ideal candidate will have experience in program evaluation and design, community-led research, data analysis, and anti-violence monitoring projects.

TGEU will assess all bids and award the tender on the basis of “best value for money” before the end of July. Your offer should at least include your qualifications, the number of days you estimate to work on the project, a daily rate, and your methodology and process ideas.

TvT is an ongoing, comparative qualitative-quantitative research project initiated by TGEU in 2009. With the assistance of partner organisations and experts and the guidance of Global Advisors from around the world, TvT provides ground-breaking research on the human rights situation of trans and gender-diverse people worldwide. TvT currently includes:

  • Contrast old data from the Legal and Social Mapping with the new TvT questionnaire;
  • Recommend actions for optimisation and presentation of new indicators;
  • Update TvT website maps with new data;
  • Coordinate with web developer;
  • Research, analyse, and interpret data related to the Trans Murder Monitoring (TMM);
  • Use Excel functions to organise and analyse data;
  • Develop content for charts, factsheets, and infographics; and,
  • Support the development of TGEU’s campaign for Trans Day of Remembrance.

The ideal candidate will have experience with quantitative data, and typically be organised, analytical, and good at managing numbers and formulas.

TGEU is looking for a senior communications strategist or consulting group to assess and recommend strategies, tactics, and processes to inform TGEU’s external communications.

The scope of work for this consultancy shall include:

  • Assessing TGEU’s communications (including strategies, tactics, audiences, messaging, processes, and staffing) within the context of the organisation, its goals, and its current socio-political environment;
  • Identify strategies and tactics to create the conditions needed to protect and expand the rights and wellbeing of trans people in Europe and Central Asia through coordinated and integrated strategic communications plans, programs, messages, and processes;
  • Drafting a 10-page report on recommendations and a strategic vision for TGEU’s communications work going forward;
  • Conducting 2-3 strategic communications trainings.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience using strategic and persuasive communications to build awareness and support for social justice issues;
  • Experience advising small international NGOs with limited communications infrastructure;
  • Understanding of best practices in persuasion campaigns, messaging, and social media management;
  • Experience with communications planning and management, ideally in a virtual work environment;
  • Competence working with trans and gender-diverse people;
  • Strong writing skills and ability to meet deadlines.
