The Research Officer will be responsible for developing, conducting, and supervising quantitative and qualitative research with different methodologies, including TGEU’s Trans Murder Monitoring, Trans Rights Map, and hate crime reporting projects. The Research Officer will ensure TGEU’s research is informed by and relevant to vulnerable trans communities. Because these projects are conducted in collaboration with TGEU staff, members, and organisations from around the world, the ideal candidate will bring both research and people skills to the role. Key responsibilities include:

• Develop, coordinate, and implement TGEU’s research work.
• Compile, verify, and analyse data on anti-trans violence and discrimination, including leading data collection for the Trans Murder Monitoring, preparing resources for annual Trans Day of Remembrance updates, and expanding community-based hate crime monitoring.
• Work closely with TGEU policy staff to document and report on trans-specific legal protections in Europe and Central Asia through the Trans Rights Map.
• Develop, and represent TGEU in, research-related partnerships, strategies, and collaborations with trans activists, researchers, and social movements around the world.
• Support development and publication of TGEU reports to raise awareness of violence, discrimination, and other human rights abuses impacting trans people.
• In partnership with Communications staff, develop and execute plans to ensure research and publications are widely accessible, visible, and disseminated.
• Coordinate and communicate with partners and contractors.
• Prepare data to be easily understood by various audiences, and present research findings in public settings.
• Contribute to internal and external reporting, and support development of grant applications as needed.
• Contribute to the strategic development of the organisation and contribute to other tasks as required.
