TGEU Publications
Trans communities have been – and will continue to be for the foreseeable future – severely affected by the massive-scale COVID-19 crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic has considerably worsened the socio-economic situation of many trans persons as well as their access to education, housing, health, and employment.
Since April 2020 TGEU has been monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on trans communities in Central Asia and Europe.
In times of crises, it is those living in the margins that suffer the most. Since the pandemic outbreak, trans communities around the world have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

Community Responses and External Resources
In these challenging times, most of our members are actively working to support their local trans communities and protect human rights to the best of their capacities and abilities.
As TGEU, we want to support our members ands partners and raise visibility on the crucial activities, actions, statements and/or recommendations they organise in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
TGEU has 200 member organisations across Europe and Central Asia in 48 different countries. These include a variety of groups from trans-led groups to LGBT organisations, non-binary, sex workers rights, trans refugees focused groups and more, all advocating for trans rights.
Here you find an overview of what our member organisations are going through, and how they cope with the COVID-19 outbreak, followed by a short survey for members who wish to share with us their current situation as well
Who’s at risk and how to support further exposed trans communities? How has COVID-19 impacted the trans communities in Europe and Central Asia? How to survive and sustain as a trans organisation?
If you want to reach out to us regarding how COVID-19 is impacting the trans community, please contact us at covid19@tgeu.org. If you have suggestions, we will do our best to take them into consideration.

Stay Safe
While we support and encourage physical distancing to slow the spread of the virus and protect our health systems, we remain concerned and vigilant about attempts to use the excuse of COVID-19 to undermine human rights and democracy.
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered virus named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
