ILGA-Europe’s statement on Transgender Day of Remembrance 2010

 

UK Equality Minister Lynne Featherstone’s speech on the occasion of the Transgender Remembrance Day, committing to a Transgender Action Plan.

 

Russia’s first ever legally permitted public demonstration on LGBT issues tok place on November 20 in St. Petersburg. The some 15 demonstrators took up for about 40 minutes with the sourrounding 100 ultra-right wing, religous and hooligan counter-protesters. The 40 police-officers were outnumbered and not able to protect the officially allowed demonstration and to prevent that posters were torn down and the demonstrators attacked with eggs. However, the organizers of the demonstration marked it as a big success. The demonstration called for an end to transphobic violence.
