This webinar will delve into the EU’s recent legal measures on gender equality and anti-discrimination, including the 2023 Pay Transparency Directive and the 2024 Directives on equality bodies, and discuss what these frameworks mean for trans communities and how they can be effectively implemented at the national level to combat discrimination and promote inclusion.

The European Union has taken important steps toward advancing gender equality and protecting individuals from discrimination. In May 2023, the EU adopted the Pay Transparency Directive, a vital initiative designed to combat pay discrimination and close the gender pay gap across EU Member States.

Building on this progress, in May 2024, two new Directives on equality bodies were adopted to set minimum standards ensuring that these institutions can effectively support victims of discrimination — including those facing discrimination on the basis of gender, gender identity, and gender expression.
