Brochure: Welcome to Stay

brochure

The Welcome to Stay – Building Trans Communities Inclusive of Trans Asylum Seekers and Refugees brochure was written together with trans asylum seekers and refugees in Europe, and with experts who have been supporting trans asylum seekers and refugees. It is a useful tool to better understand the common issues that trans asylum seekers and refugees face and includes some general tips and principles that could guide the work of organisations who wish to offer support to trans asylum seekers and refugees.

Trans Healthcare in Asylum Settings

Trans people in asylum procedures might have specific healthcare needs. States have to ensure during the asylum procedure that basic healthcare needs of an asylum seeker are met. Trans specific healthcare needs such as expert psycho-social support, hormone replacement treatment, or post-surgical care are not luxury but constitute basic healthcare needs.

Read in our briefing what such care might entail, why it is necessary and how international human rights law requires its provision: Trans Healthcare in Asylum Reception Conditions (pdf)

TGEU advocates for an EU Asylum system that requires EU member states explicelty to provide for trans specific healthcare.
