Join us for the ninth TGEU European and Central Asian Trans Council from 21-24 November 2024, at Salini Resort Hotel, Malta. Every two years, we bring together 200 trans activists from across Europe and Central Asia to set the agenda for trans politics and celebrate trans communities.
Together: Uniting in Solidarity and Resistance
This year’s theme is “Together: Uniting in Solidarity and Resistance,” highlighting the importance of coming together to address the pressing issues facing trans communities in Europe and Central Asia.
In a world marked by crises and increasing threats to trans rights, it is more important than ever to stand side by side in solidarity and resistance. The Council will provide a space for trans advocates, policymakers, allies, and donors to come together, share ideas, and amplify voices in the fight for trans rights and equality.
Hosted by MGRM – The Malta LGBTIQ Rights Movement in collaboration with TGEU, the Council will bring together 200 participants from the region to engage in dialogue, mobilisation, and community-building. This is a unique opportunity to connect with fellow activists, learn from each other, and strategise for a stronger, more united trans movement.

Early registration includes an accommodation discount voucher.
Deadline for registration: Sunday, 20 October 2024.
Scholarships
All our members should have the opportunity to join us at this important gathering of the European and Central Asian trans community. Therefore, we’re pleased to announce that we have secured funding for a limited number of full scholarships for activists to attend the Council. Partial scholarships are also available.
Strong preference will be given to TGEU members (group and individual members) and/or to trans and queer people from underrepresented groups and countries.
We especially encourage trans people from further marginalised backgrounds to apply, including Black people and people of colour, D/deaf and disabled people, people with a migration background, sex workers, trans women and gender-non-conforming people, people living with HIV, and people from Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Registration for scholarships has now closed.
Volunteer
Whether you’d like to help make the Council as accessible as possible, be a point of contact for participants through our Awareness team, or document and share what’s happening at the Council through video, photography and social media we’ve got a role for you. There are several teams to get involved in, which cover a wide range of skills. You can see a full list via the sign up form.
We will waive the registration fees for volunteers. However, you will need to cover travel and accommodation costs.
Volunteer applications are now closed.
Contribute to the programme
To make the Council programme as inclusive and as representative of the movement as possible, we are inviting members to co-create the programme with us.
We welcome proposals from trans-led members of TGEU who want to bring their group’s knowledge and talents into the spotlight. If you would like to contribute to the Council’s programme and bring the theme to life, share your ideas with us via the form below. We especially encourage trans people from further marginalised backgrounds to submit proposals.
We will give priority to trans and queer activists from TGEU member organisations and underrepresented groups. If you aren’t a member yet, you can find out more information about how, and why you should join TGEU over on our ‘become a member’ page.
We are no longer accepting programme proposals.
Perform or exhibit your artistic work
Attending the Council? Are you trans and an artist? Would you like to present your work to the community? We’re inviting all Council participants to submit a performance or exhibition proposal.
Feel free to be creative! Your proposals will be reviewed by TGEU’s Board and staff. The selection will consider the Council’s space, time, and budget capacity.
We are no longer accepting performance proposals.
