Call for Candidates:Pre-Election Committee 2024–2026
Would you like to help identify future Board members and Auditors for TGEU?
If so, please nominate yourself to be part of TGEU’s Pre-Election Committee for 2024-2026.
At TGEU’s Hybrid General Assembly on Saturday, 23 November 2024, the membership will elect seven new board members to form TGEU’s Board, two Co-Chairs, two Auditors, and three to five Pre-Election Committee members to serve a two-year term (2024-2026).
We are looking for candidates to serve as one of the three – five TGEU Pre-Election Committee members for two years. To increase representation and expertise on the Board, we especially encourage nominations from trans and/or nonbinary people who are Black and/or people of colour, D/deaf and/or disabled, migrants, transfeminine, and/or sex workers. In addition, candidates with experience or skills in non-profit governance are strongly encouraged to apply. We urge interested members to nominate themselves as candidates and please make sure to mention your background and experiences in the nomination form.
If you are interested, we encourage candidates who would like to be active as members of the Pre-Election Committee to apply using the application instructions below.
About the Pre-Election Committee
The Pre-Election Committee consists of three to five people from the TGEU membership who have a good working knowledge of, and are well-connected with the trans communities in Europe and Central Asia.
TGEU statutes (§ 13(2)) define the tasks of the Pre-Election Committee members elected by the General Assembly as follows: “The task of the Pre-Election Committee is to make sure that as qualified candidates as possible run for office and that the pool of candidates reflects the diversity of the trans community in Europe and Central Asia as much as possible. In order to achieve this, the Pre-Election Committee shall reach out to potential candidates and groups”.
The Pre-Election Committee supports the Board and Auditors’ election process and presents its findings to the General Assembly. However, the committee does not make any direct suggestions on who to vote for in the General Assembly. Instead, it focuses on making sure that all candidates understand what the Board’s tasks and responsibilities are, and to make sure the possibility of running for the Board is known to as many candidates as possible.
Please note that current Board members, Staff, or Auditors cannot be members of the Pre-Election Committee. More details can be found in TGEU’s Statutes.
